Work done on Saturday Sep 7:

* West parking lot: During the week Jeff Verney has been bringing in material for the west parking lot, and he continued today.  Turns out he using material from the Head Tide dam, which is being partially demolished and repaired.  He would then spread it out.
* Mountain Extension: Jeff's also brought in dam material for the MX.  Mike spent the day working on it.
* B&SR 14: timbers arrived for the stringers, and were spread out and some cuts were made.

On Monday the concrete guy is coming to look at the car barn extension, and coal will be arriving.

*Sounds like a Monday car barn slab estimate. May be "mud" delivery next week?
*Amazing how much local fill can be found when needed.
*Stand back---rehab maestro Zack is about to once again perform his superb car fix magic in Bay 2!
*And, don't disturb Mike and Jeff, finish-prepping for the MX FWW track extension and west parking lot finish.

Latest report--hurricane is receding off Nova Scotia.
G'bye.

Why no thickened slab\footing portions  under the  car barn's larger extension's coming walls to support the extra weight?

Paul,

I am not the expert on the Car Barn, but it appears to me that the walls are post and beam construction.  The outside walls are connected to the horizontal beams which are supported by the vertical columns which are mounted on piers that extend below the frost line.  The walls are not connected to the ground.  In fact, that is why they put the porcupine wire mesh along the bottom to keep the critters from digging under the bottom of the wall.

Paul, if you notice in my pictures, there is extra slab thickness around the outside edge. I did not measure it, so maybe Brendan can tell us exact, but I think the extra thickess goes about 18 inches in.

OK....with rebar, that should be adequate. Have estimated for a rebar/wwf subcontractor.
Thanks Mike.

With the help of Steve L, Fred, and myself, I am pleased to announce we now have all 160 rails ready and sorted for Fall Work Weekend along with 11 extras. Later on we will finish sorting out the remaining pile.

Work done on Saturday Sep 14:

* Mountain Extension: Mike was prepping for the track laying later this week, had received a load of blown ledge and other stone for spreading today.
* B&SR Car 14: Zack spaced the sills out, and worked on the mortise and tenon "outies".
* Track laying prep: Jay built the lifting bars for the tie bundles.  A bunch of us got together and moved ties into premade tie bundles, then got the yellow work flats and loaded them with spikes, joint bars, and bolts.
* Board meeting.

We also had a crew assemble tie bundles in preparation for Tuesday, as well as staging and loading the two yellow work flats.

We dabbled with the new torch which will be used for continued flanging.
