Gravel Pits
« on: August 18, 2019, 07:41:42 PM »
Railroad maintenance was always going on when the railroad was active. After the initial construction with some fills, lots of trestles and rickety bridges, the upgrades began.

I have found this website for LIDAR mapping. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=b40a0b5283244a18907b9dea05769fb7

This is the largest pit on the railroad that I could find. It must have been good material because of the amount taken. Also, the pit is much wider than the standard 66 foot right of way..

Having been there several times in person, this really puts it into perspective..very impressive.
