Scale Drawings of No. 10
« on: July 17, 2019, 07:15:33 PM »
So I know it's been a while since I've posted (OK, it's been a REALLY long time) but in that intervening time I've started designing and manufacturing kits in On30. At risk of this being slightly off topic, is there any scale drawings of WW&F No. 10 floating around? If there's at least some drawings with measurements I can do the conversions and at least start doing some design work... Eventually I'd love to do a ready-to-run locomotive, and starting small (both literally and figuratively) seems like a good place to begin what'll likely be a long-term project.

O Scale is nice but I bet there is more than a few members who'd love a G scale version.

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania holds the remaining Vulcan Iron Works drawings and photographs, and it has recently begun scanning both and posting them on its web site. Whether they have gotten to No. 10 yet is not known to me. They have been processing several thousand photos each month. I'm not certain if they've actually begun scanning the drawings, but if not it will be soon.

The Hagley Museum in Wilmington (I think) has the builder's photo of #10.  Not the same, of course, as the erection drawings.  We got a copy of the drawings from RMPA years ago when we were rebuilding it.

Alright, that's good to know... James, do you remember what the drawings were filed under at all? Might make it a bit easier for me to track down if I know what I'm looking for.

The drawings are available as copies and are filed by construction number at the RRMPA.
