Sandy Ridge & Clear Lake Ry
« on: July 05, 2019, 08:14:49 AM »
Hi,  I hope this isn't out of bounds for this board.

Our railway follows the Maine two foot protocol on 7.5 inch gage.  We were so blown away at the Portland convention that we became life members. Anyhow, we have 2 Forneys that are back in steam after major work.

Here is a pic of #10 with Marty Knox checking her out after his work got her back in steam again.

Bob, it looks to me that your hips also need to be "narrow gauge" - if ya know what I mean!   ;)

Tom, I am so glad to see that The Sandy Ridge & Clear Lake is still running.  Seeing what you guys were doing in 7 1/2 gauge is what inspired me to try my own Maine 2 footer using 7 1/2 gauge track.
While my best effort is rather a make-shift replica (battery powered, steam outline) All should know The SR&CL does it "right"!!!  Live steam, accurate 1/3 scale, point to point running, wide curves, steep grades... in a region with serious snowfall.
SR&CL is a fine tribute to the Maine 2 foot heritage.

For what it's worth, here's my No. 11.

As the WW&F had a special steam train out so did the SR&CL Ry Saturday.  My tribute to narrow gauge in the snow.

Glad to hear the SR&CL is still running.  This fine railroad is what set me off to build my Bountyland Railway.

Hello,
I think all may enjoy the recent posts about the SR&CL that has been on a new we page for a few months. The line is still running and working to keep ahead of decay and decline. This will take you to the home page. Click on "Updates" to see the latest news and photos.

These sort of photos used to be sent around on a private email list, but now are available to all. Enjoy!
