We have a lot of rail we can crop and redrill, or straighten out to be used as well. There are currently 3 stacks of rails left. Each stack holding around 80 or so sticks.

I'm sure the following thought has already been considered, but just in case it hasn't. Now that we have a third and fourth flatcar available, perhaps it would make sense to load a second car with rail in anticipation of the work weekend. If it was spotted ahead of time on the mill siding at Top of the Mountain, the load would be available for use as soon as it was needed. The empty car could then be sent back to Sheepscot on the regular train for loading a second time.

Seems like a great idea Wayne. The extra flat would also have to have stacks of ties also. It would have to be loaded differently so the tie stacks weren’t on top of the rails. Total weight might be a problem. Perhaps having the fourth flat also pre-loaded and staged would help speed things up.

The idea has already been discussed well over a month ago. Along with a way to stage the second car, the rail laying train will be reloaded at Top of the Mountain each day at lunch which will hopefully give everyone an actual lunch break.
