Work done on Saturday June 22:

* Ramp track: a crew led by Dauntless Dana spiked everything before 11, then ballasted the two flats that Fred filled yesterday.  We made short work of it, then between trains got another two flatcar loads and emptied those.
* Car barn: another crew finished removing the wall boards (started by Brendan earlier in the week) on the south wall, then removed the intermediate posts, then removed the bottom beam.  Brendan started putting up a blue tarp on the south wall.
* Misc: I saw Eric heating metal up in the forge, not sure what he was working at.
* Kitchen: crew made a valiant effort at cleaning the floor in the house.
* Evening concert: about 30 people bought tickets for today's concert.

Did the track get ballasted, too?

Sorry I couldn't be there today.  Work intervened.
What–me worry?

Track has all been ballasted.  No time to jack and tamp, unfortunately.

I'm sure Zack could build a perfectly adequate new wooden roof on 67 sted of metal, saving bucks$?.
When will the WW&F bridge builders union be starting daily second shifts?  ;D

Here's a big "thank you!" to the crew who worked with me on the ramp track yesterday.  I was very satisfied with all we were able to get done.  The whole track was spiked and rough lined before lunch with some ballasting done as well.  By day's end we had the entire track ballasted and ready for surfacing and tamping.  It was a good day's work done by a great crew.

One of the best Saturdays of work done in Quite a while. The weather helped a lot. We'll get back to cutting ties after more important work is done. Will do a stack at a time now.

Fred,

You're going to wear out the chain saws! :o

More tamping on the Mountain would be great. :)

If the tamper is used on the Mountain, can it be left at TOM, leaving the track accessible, at least until after the 6th? I am moving the Excavator to TOM Saturday morning, followed by the dozer on July 5th if it is done at Sheepscot, then the 6th the dozer heads to end of track and the Kubota will make some ditch improvements on it's way down the mountain.

I would NOT leave Big Joe out in the wilderness, could suffer much hard-to-fix damage. The heavier machines would probably survive better.

Paul, we left it out there for the end of April and most of May.
