Just for the record, I am back up, mostly. I'm back to my usual activities at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania restoration shop, and I will "graduate" from cardiac rehab on Nov. 9. Looking forward already to the Spring Work Weekend.

We can make switch points in our shop at Sheepscot as well, and may do that when the time comes to make new 32 lb points. But it depends on shop crew availability.

Joe,

You are correct - Sheepscot made some of the first points and frogs; I volunteered to make frogs and points in Baltimore, both for something to do while "away" as well as take one burden off the busy guys up there, AND I had access to a larger milling machine than what had been available at Sheepscot.  Jason still has the fixtures, wedges, etc. to hold the small rail on the mill bed at the proper angles to make the tapered cuts, so that is why I sent the one unfinished rail back north for completion.

Work done on Saturday Oct 20:

* Landscaping: Jeff Verney was busy bringing in some bank-run gravel * loads for the road alongside the ramp track.  The road will be to assist in removing the rail gantry.
* A little bit of cleanup: The boom truck was put to work moving loose parts and pieces of stuff from the parking area to the second level of the storage container.  Plus Fred was bringing old ties to the transfer station in the truck.
* Shop cranes: Dan was busy checking and tightening the bolts on the existing crane system, while Alan was installing more brackets in Bay 1 extension for the Bay 1 crane, making some crane rail adustments, and adding more bolts to the diagonal ceiling supports.
* Archives: Linda was working the Archives.
* Trains: Since we had Brian's open car (henceforth referred to as Car B) and it had brakes, our train ran with Coach 3 and Car B.  Coach 8 and the caboose were behind the new boxcar which was blue flagged, so we couldn't use them.
* Percival House: Zack is pretty much finished with the deck stairs.

* Bank run gravel is essentially stoney dirt.

Brian’s car will require a number so it can be included in conventional operating plans.  Brian has already approved of this.  No idea what number, but a number it must have.

Was blocking the caboose and coach 8 a planned move :o???

Didn't Stoney Dirt play left tackle for the old Boston Patriots? ::)

On the roof. Things we want to keep out of the way are now up there, mainly mill parts. Part of my organizing and consolidating plan..

There is not much total added weight with the additional items. Maybe 2500 pounds, spread out over 40 feet, near a wall when possible, set on blocking to also help spread the weight.

It is better to have these items up out of the way where there is less chance for damage.

Perhaps 107? The highest number open excursion car that I knew of was 106, which was in Portland with 102 and 105 before the frame was deemed unsalvageable and the car demolished.

I agree that it's Brian's call. I was just thinking in terms of continuity. Seems to be a big thing and such (the coach 8 renumbering followed by the planned coach 9, the creation of the 50 series for the internal combustion locos, 10\11, etc).
