Are the coming "crane rails" over bay 3 similar to those over bay 2? Not clear to me.
Track build progress suggestion: snap a pic of day's track end, with short location note.

Amount of noticeable WW&F work going on is incredible!

It's worth noting, I think, that among the volunteers who were on the scene over the weekend, there were folks representing several other museums and tourist railroads. Thanks to all!

Yes, as always we are fortunate to have so many experienced and non experienced volunteers from a few different railroads. And as normal, we showed our appreciation by trying to talk to and thank everyone for all their help.

But even more importantly are those regular volunteers who spent hundreds of hours prepairing for the work weekend.

The gift shop crew planned weeks in advance, having new shirts made for the bridge project as well as other merchandise.  Thanks to the many volunteers who made purchases, the gift shop had sales over $4,100

FWW Day 4: Monday

A small crew today.

* Track crew: Some maintenance was done at Albee's Field, jacking and tamping.  However we got a late start so lunch time crept up on us.  While waiting for the tamper to finish, the crew retreived all the tools and trash from the end of track.
* Phone line: The line has been extended down the hill, not quite reaching the former end point.
* Parking Lot: Brendan was busy continuing to clear the parking lot.
* Loco 9: The engine was drained and cleaned.
* Food: Nancy served breakfast and lunch, then cleaned up.

The pick-up was loaded with ties to take to the dump tomorrow. I cut them in half for easy unloading. When your 82 and have no crew, it's best to cut the ties into!

Also, "backup" center line stakes were driven along the side of the r-o-w, in case spring ballasting moves the track out of position. (Rick, I hope I described this correctly) :o

That is indeed correct Jeff. Train travel, along with temperature changes will likely cause the track to shift slightly over the course of the winter.

That is awesome. Glad to hear the gift shop went well, and I look forward to wearing my new t-shirt and hat while on vacation to CT and PA next week.

FWW Day 4
* Phone line: The line has been extended down the hill, not quite reaching the former end point.

Matt Christoforo, Edward Eubank, and Joseph Gilbert (and I) completed the magneto phone line work that they began on Sunday. The complete line now runs from part way down the hill nearest TOM to Sheepscot and was tested over that distance. Aided by their youthful enthusiasm and skillful craftsmanship, i’m at an all time high of magphone line optimism. Thanks guys!!!

Thank you Fred. See everyone in two weeks, then I hope to jump full force into some track maintenance.

64 junk ties picked up from Davis grade today using the crane.  Cleaned up from Sutter’s south to the whistle post.  Plenty more to go; well leave the crane on for now to continue the job.

See ya
