Yikes! Those things should NEVER wash away, could probably anchor the QE2!
Good luck, watch your fingers.  ;)

Hey everyone,

Sorry I haven't been able to be at the railroad this week. Work has really put a damper on that. I still hope to start working on sorting rail this Saturday if all goes well. Made a brief appearance today to show some friends around real quick and do a quick track inspection. Sigh, so much to do, so little time. :/

Welcome to the club!  On the other hand, eating is a good thing.

Really sucks when things you have to do get in the way of the things you want to do..

150 ties cut this week, 100 of them today. Zack an Al stacked them. Hope to do more of them next week if I don't have to go for things.

Today the rail sorting crew started off with Al, Jay and I and we cleared out a hole to the rail pile, and sorted out bridge material. Then as we started to move rail Al had to take care of parking since we had closed off 70% of the parking lot. Then Bill arrived to help, and then later James and we discovered a 5 man crew is ideal for moving rail.

We need more help everyone. Todays crew was strictly moving rail, aside from a few getting called off here and there for small odds and ends. Next Saturday will be a wash because of the ice cream trains, so I hope we can move rail on Wednesday to stay ahead of things.

3 rails need to be cropped and drilled and I hope to do that Wednesday while a crew moves more rail. (Dependant on man power) Overall we set out 20 rails to be used for FWW, and 9 skips that need unbending, and 3 off the ground in front of the big pile of rail.

For those wondering, the big pile had over 12,300 feet of rail, or 6,150+ of track feet.

Work done on Saturday Aug 18:

* Mountain Extension: Mike got the hole extended a little bit (enough to put another block on top of existing blocks) and filled in between the two placed with stone.  Then tried to do more but the machinery didn't cooperate (see the Mountain Extension thread).
* Rail: Joe ran a crew to sort through rail (see previous message).
* Caboose: Marcel has the base of the cupola boards placed and attached.
* Ties: Fred cut up a bunch of ties.

We were visited by a mystery tour today.

Special thank you to everyone who helped move rail today, including Fred who moved some trailers for us. Without your guys determination to see the rail through, I was ready to stop after lunch. We worked through some sprinkles, but found shelter when it became pouring rain.

Hello all,

Any extra hands today would be helpful.  We are scheduled to receive a truck shipment at Sheepscot, but my time must be spent on the bridge site laying out for the next round of piles.  We could really use help with both projects.

Thanks,
Jason

Hey everyone, tenative plan for me on Wednesday is to crop and drill 3 rails, prep 10-20 rails to be moved to the rail pile for FWW. Hopefully will have 1 helper able to help slide rails around, and hopefully have a fork lift operator for an hour later in the day.

The B&SR flanger from Maine Narrow Gauge arrived today.
