In addition to the really exciting stuff, Gordon C. made and installed two brackets on #9 to support the engine vacuum brake rods. They will hopefully extend the life of the vacuum brake diaphragms by supporting the weight of the rods and reducing the amount of flexing that the diaphragms undergo. There is evidence in the wear pattern on the fireman's side rod that they were an original feature of the vacuum brake system.

And it was a work of art. It is the small things that go unnoticed that sometimes make a huge difference.

Hey everyone, I am hoping to be at the museum Tuesday or Wednesday this week to move rail again...

I'll be there on Wednesday also but do have to meet with Bob L. about getting re-certified as a Brakeman.

Todays rail moving crew worked hard in the heat, and by lunch we had 27 rails sorted out. We got 29 done today, plus one we are going to take out and replace hopefully tomorrow. In the event I can be there tomorrow, I hope to rearrange the save/scrap rail and the stuff for the bridge.

We are currently up to 59 good rails, and 22 set aside for later due to needing some extra work.

We were using both machines at the same time for different things.

Glad  to see Little John Green the tractor in action. In the past it was not running reliably? Despite the heat, you guys are gittin er dun! Fred's crackin da whip!!

The John Deere was running rough. I put in new injectors and they improved it. I thinkbit could use a good tune up, and have the injector pump rebuilt, but not during our busy season.
