The first of the evening concert series is Saturday.  Well want to get 100 chairs delivered to AC and set up under the tent (which is being delivered and set up by a tent rental company).

Also we’ll want to focus a team on continuing the bridge sub assembly bolting at SS during the day.

See ya
Jason

Hello to all from Texas where is daily is in the low 100s.  It's been a few (too many) years since this member (L 517) has been up to Maine to spend some time working alongside ya'all.  Wife and I will be in Wiscasset from Sat afternoon Aug 11 till Wed Aug 15, then down a bit in Bath for a few more days.  I see the annual picnic is Aug 12.  Can I assume there will be folks staying at the Wiscasset Woods lodge and I can hitch a ride to breakfast and then to the RR.  Wife can keep the car for shopping and I will look forward to whatever work I can help with.  How about Monday and Tues Aug 13-14.  Any need for help then.  Or the following weekend (Aug 18-19).  Michael Ross - email at home is mross -at- txem.com

Hi all,  A total of 4 pick-up loads of soft wood have been removed from where the track is to be put down this fall. Probably another 4 loads left.

How about using the bigger WW&F flatbed truck? Would limit loading energy,  trips.  :P

Michael, not sure if anyone has replied back yet or not, but there are volunteers around on most if not all of the dates you mentioned. Show up anytime looking for something to do, and we can find something. :)We love people who are eager to learn something new, or maybe even help in an area they are experienced in.

Hey everyone, due to my work schedule I will be at the railroad for a short time tomorrow to do some brush cutting around Sheepscot weather depending.

Paul, that is better suited as a site truck. Not registered yet for the road. Coming soon..

Work done on Saturday July 28:

* Mountain Extension: Mike put in two culverts, on either side of the pinch point.  Fred corralled several people into hauling away 4 truckloads of softwood from the Mountain.
* Machine shop: Boiler stuff got re-arranged (some consolidation) in the Bay 1 section of the shop, and some permanent items got re-arranged.
* Concert prep: chairs were brought up after lunch.
* Caboose: Marcel is getting closer to getting the cupola put back together - he's fitting up versus the rods hanging from the roof.

It went well! The band was great and a few visitors described the venue as a perfect one. Many also loved the concert setup, using the AA truck as a stage. We will undoubtedly have return participants. We also had two reporters, from both the Lincoln County News and the Wiscasset and Boothbay Papers present to report on the concert and upcoming series.

Huge thanks to all of the volunteers who played a role in making the concert happen as well. It was a great group effort and with some little tweaks, should be fairly easy to reproduce in a month with even more efficiency.

We had a light turnout, which we'll work to address on the next concerts- 26 passengers, which was 26% of capacity. Part of this may have been due to the very poor weather forecasted for this evening which didn't materialize here until around 10:15PM.

With all of that in mind- Annual Picnic is just 2 short weeks away!

Work done Sunday 7/29/18

Marcel worked on the caboose

Fred and crew gathered up two more truck loads of wood off the Mountain extension.

Brush cutting was done from the Water Tower to Janes Way, then the Tool House to North Yard switch, around the Whitefield Section house and in between the tracks at the car barn. Around 300' long by 60' wide for those unfamiliar with the size of the area.

Decent amount of passengers rode the train today, with several returning families and a returning family that has made a visit to the WW&F a yearly tradition while they are in the area from Oregon.

We need an easy way to get testimonials from folks like this. It is a marketing goldmine. Even if it is just cellphone video.
