Robert C. Jones' Two Feet between the rails books

My wife and I were in Farmington, Maine on Tuesday and went into the used bookstore Twice Old Tales on Main St.  In the Maine section they have the two volume set of Jones' book.  They are $80 apiece and in very good condition.  There are a few other RR related books there, all pretty pricey.

Even from my far away horizon I have noted the price level of these books.
They are the only part missing (naturally) from my collection of the Jones' books on the Maine twofooters.
Any particular reason why they are not reprinted?

$80 is a very good price. I bought my 2-book set a number of years ago and paid quite a bit more.

From what I have heard, Volume 1 had 2 printing runs and Volume 2 only had 1.  Or maybe 1 had a bigger run than 2 had.

I don't believe the author ever pursued reprinting, but I don't know why.  It could have been the money to do so.

Two Feet to the Lakes has skyrocketed lately on amazon, starting at $470.00, and going as high as $1,231.03! It's not even in pristine condition, there all in "good" condition. All Robert C. Jones Two Footers books are amazing and insightful for me, one of the younger generation of railroad enthusiasts. Sounds like a great buy to me!
