There is a much easier and faster method, which entails a tie inserter. After changing ties with a tie crane which is similar to this, tie inserter, a backhoe, and by hand, the fastest way is to use the inserter. However, the wrong operator and you can really hump or misalign the track. But with the correct operator, you can pull and insert a tie in about 40 seconds per tie.
