Hi Folks,
Thanks for the accolades, but I've been hearing people around the railway asking for something like this for some time, so I took what I had heard, molded it a little bit and brought it to the select board at Liz Brown's (our Town Clerks) advice. Historically, the railroad was about bringing people together, by connecting communities through transportation, communication, and commerce. Today, we aim to do the same thing.
At the meeting we got to hear more feedback from town residents. Suggestions (both from the meeting and elsewhere) included the following:
-free passage on the railway for town residents
-displays by town organizations and businesses (which would certainly include Midcoast Conservancy)
-Alna History committee displays
-Alna VFD displays
-Some sort of a picnic luncheon
-Some sort of community games
-Some sort of a food drive for an area soup kitchen
We're going to have a great event for the residents of the town and we are looking forward to hosting them, as they have been 'hosting' us for many years now.
Steve
