I remember many moons ago, you and I discussed fusible plugs. I didn't realize that we had some. Does 10 have them?

10’s old boiler did not have them.  The new one will.  There are several suppliers we’ve found.

See ya

It fills a hole in the firebox to the water/steam side; the idea is that if the crownsheet gets exposed, the plug is softer than the metal around it and melts, thus causing the steam to put out the fire.

Work done on Saturday Feb 24:

* Mountain Extension ROW: Burning and some cutting happened between Trout Brook and 218.
* Machine shop: Alan was doing something involving a welder.  And other stuff, don't know what.
* Archives: Successful transfer of programs and data to the new laptop, but it wasn't easy.
   - FYI, yesterday the Archives received some material from Leonard Atwood and the FS&K (Franklin, Somerset & Kennebec) railroad.

FS&K? Wow! I've found a few news blurbs in the 1897 issues of the Gardner REPORTER-JOURNAL.

I'll leave it to Linda about how much she wants to reveal about the specifics of the acquisition, but in total it includes 26 letters from Leonard Atwood to the Engineer of the FS&K along with 5 or 6 engineering/surveying notebooks regarding the project.

The first letter, from late March of 1901 (I believe) is printed on a unique FS&K letterhead with a proposed map on the back. The last is from late April. There is nearly 1 letter each day during the month of April concerning the day to day operation of the FS&K in Maine while Atwood was in Philadelphia attempting to arrange financing.

Tomorrow we will be transcribing letters from the originals.

Very excited about the prospect of learning more about Atwood's endeavors by seeing what we can glean from the letters.
