Procuring as many useful ng railcar parts as possible from EBT is an excellent idea. There is now a WW&F storage structure that can hold non-bulky, rare parts.
Agreed that an ongoing, restored and operating EBT would be great, but has a sad, slim chance of happening.
The 2926 rebuilders originally bought two containers to store tools and small machinery, now has, IIRC, eight of 'em, all full.
One is a very adequate machine shop...another safely stored massive superheater tube assemblies, now installed...another provided roof space for storing rusty, original boiler/cylinder/air compressor sheet metal jacketing now serving as templates for new metal being nicely fabricated/painted by a local auto body shop, and being installed over foam insulation...containers also sheltered other pipes, parts, all of which are presently being threaded, bolted or welded to '26.
During a recent visit, SW area's impressed FRA inspector has OK'd 2926 steamup when safely ready.
By next spring?
