When my wife's motorcycle friends ask "what's your ride", and I respond "a two-cylinder external combustion 1891 Portland", am I asking for a fight?

I think if you say - an 1891 Portland twin,  I'd bet you'd get the Scoobie-Do "Baawrumf".  Then you'd have some splain'in to do...... ;D

If a train leaves Chicago travelling east at 60mph while a train leaves Boston travelling west at 50mph, at what point will positive train control prevent us from having to answer this question?

The answer may depend on whether CSX goes ahead with their rumored proposal to single-track the ex-NYC Water Level Route. :(

If the plural for goose is geese, why isn't the plural of caboose: cabeese?
Or, if the plural for rhombus is rhombi, could the plural of caboose be cabi?
Or, if the plural for moose is moose, then the plural of caboose should also be caboose.

Seeeeee.......... I thought it was either mooses or meeses.....
Plural of Moose is Moose.  Who ever heard of such a thing.  And don't get me started on small trout with horns.....

I thought Meeses was plural for Mouse. As Jinx the cat would say, " I hate meeses to pieces!".

That would make the plural of caboose "cabeeses". And that would just be plain silly.

OK,,,,,, I have to ask.  What is the significance of the colors and numbers of colored squares by each name?

Is it associated with the titles everyone gets based on their contributions to the forum?

Are contributions graded based on their quality, cleverness or contribution to the real mission of our railroad?

Just wondering......

Bill,

I think it's based on quantity, not quality.

Honestly - I don't know. I think they used to be stars before the forum software was upgraded.

Yes, there used to be stars before the upgrade.  The number indicate generally the number of posts and your "title".

I believe that Ed's and James' squares are different colors due to their moderator status.
