Work done on Saturday March 11:

* It was really cold today (maybe low teens) with a stiff wind today making for a sub zero wind chill.  So nobody was really eager to start working outside.  Fred managed to get a fire going behind the storage box location, which got fed all morning.  Mike freed up some dirt and he, Fred and Brendan hauled it over to extend the base of the box location.
* Boxcar 67: Jay did some work on the trucks.  The truck hardware has all been moved into the machine shop.  Meanwhile Zack wasn't really into working on belt rails with the cold.
* Archives: Linda wanted me to get the scanner working.  I did, then we tried negatives.  The scanner software started out recognizing the fact that the scanner does negatives, but then later it stopped.  I couldn't get it back to recognizing the negatives.  Marcel stopped in and provided some old photos for Linda.
* Equipment carrier car 1015: Mike got the carrier flipped and one of the axles moved onto the back, then removed the other axle.

Also -

As James noted, it was cold.  The actual temperature never got above 7 and most everyone was in the house this morning before lunch was even ready.  After lunch Brendan installed a bulletin board on the wall above the trash and recycle bins in the Percival house.  The board is for notices and notes such as equipment work and track information like slow orders.  This is now the place visiting members should check for information on projects and operations.  Brendan also put a shelf under the notice board.  This is where the member sign in book will be kept so please remember to go to the new sign in/out area in the Percival house main room when you work at the railroad.

The axle that was used is a highway axle. We flipped the car and Brendan lined the axle up on it and we put the car back in the shop. This will make it easier to work on the bottom of the car to attach the new sub frame.
Railroad axles are ready for the lathe, with one being in it. The weekday shop crew will turn the bearing ends, and touch up the axle between the wheels if needed, so the axle can be sleeved with some heavy wall pipe, when the axle is cut from it's current 3' gauge.

Great! Now before filling, build some sturdy shelves across the end and along one side. Then, as items are installed within, keep a running inventory somewhere so nothing gets in (or out) without being recorded!

Looks like another major paint job.  Do we use WW&F paint scheme or forest green??

Nice work.
See the nice, dark, coniferous area woods ?
I'd use matching green paint on Yang Ming, with a white roof to minimize summer heat. Airtight steel containers can get hot.
Build  a run of top-to-bottom shelves along one wall,  both walls if stored parts are relatively small, back wall optional.
Bury a wire from the garage for a couple fluorescent ceiling fixtures.
And yes, keep close track of what's in there, or leaves.
Next.  ;)

If you are over sixty, you should remember "Ming the Merciless" from Flash Gordon TV.  Early fifties.  LOL
