As I recall the railbus was almost totally distroyed in and accident with an automobile at the Eda Ave crossing in the middle to late 60's and was not repaired for quite a while, l remember it being in the museum bad side to the wall and when it was finally repaired REO parts were hard to find.

Monson #3, after a brief delay and being used in service 4th of July weekend in Portland, is back on the rails in Phillips.

She'll be running in service on SRRL trains tomorrow and as many open days as MNG can help provide crews for going forward this season.

So if we ride behind it in Phillips, do we have to walk back, since you only have crews going forward?

Well.....at least it's not that long a walk back if you take the wood's shortcut........

Hansel, thanks for sharing the video and getting my wheel slip at 3:15! Probably made for better sound anyway.

I had a fantastic time photographing and running No. 3 on Friday. Look for a story about MNG's engineer for an hour program in an upcoming issue of Trains Magazine. Until then, here's a look at what I got: https://www.flickr.com/photos/justinfranz/32058199245/in/dateposted-public/
