I've seen these glue blocks on lots of furniture. If they use the siding as part of the structure it makes sense.

JI noticed that on boxcar 67 that there are lots of Z braces both fore aft of the door, extending all the way to the ends. But I didn't see any bracing laterally from side to side on the two end frames. Have they just not been installed it yet?

Bill, They have not been installed yet. As for the little glued blocks, at first I thought they might have been used to help keep the seams vertical but those pieces are nailed Top,Bottom and middle in places. Now I think they help to keep the siding from pulling on the nails as the car slats back and forth.

2017 Amherst Railway Society Show -

* WW&F Presence - There were at least two dozen WW&F members at the show.  Some worked at the show tables, some with other groups and some came to shop.  Most stopped by the WW&F tables Friday - Sunday.

* Museum Sales Tables - The crew included: John R., John M., Marcel, Duncan M., Susan, Kerry and Cindy.  Nancy Weeks brought plenty of great food for lunch each day, thank you Nancy!  The show crew puts in 3 - 4 days with about 8 hours each day.  This includes travel, set up on Friday and tear down Sunday evening.

* Merchandise - Over $2,000 worth of sales with the best day being Saturday.  A number of memberships were sold including life memberships.

* Outreach - For the first time, some WW&F members used their phones to give people a "slide show" of WW&F facebook images to help explain the preservation work we are doing.  Even on the small screen, show attendees were impressed with our projects and the historic looking photos made possible by our volunteers.

* Locomotive #11 - A near mint condition rear/tender light was purchased for #11.  The light, made by Keystone Electric Supplies is complete with the lense, reflector and socket assembly.  The fixture is nearly identical to the rear light on #10.
