End of 2016 Snowfall
« on: December 31, 2016, 03:54:06 PM »
Hello All - this forum has been very quiet over the past few days - how much snow did we get at Sheepscot?
Hope all is well with everyone and best wishes for a happy and healthy 2017.

We had a Winter storm with 40+ mph wind gusts which resulted in about 100,000 people out of power yesterday morning.  There were many trees down, blocking roads and bringing down wires.  Snowfall was only about 5" in Alna but it was mixed with sleet and freezing rain making it very heavy.

Mike and crew plowed the mainline today and the parking lot was cleared yesterday to keep it ready for MRR engine #3 to arrive.

Stewart, I saw that the Alna V F D was on the emergency shelter list so I figured there were problems in the area.

Yes, we had an emergency shelter opened since most of the north end of town was without power.  Starting at 5:00am Friday we ran 4 calls for down trees/wires that were across roads.  Just the cost of doing business.

Have a Happy New Year.
