I'm planning on being there for victorian christmas to help out. I've been waiting to see if I was going to have to work or not. I'm not crew certified but I'm sure I can help out in some way.

see ya there,
Charlie

Anticipated work for Saturday December 17: Victorian Christmas

I think our most pressing need is crowd control: for platforms at Sheepscot and the one platform at Alna Center; for parking (typically we end up with folks way out on Rt 218); for guidance, etc.  Tickets will be distributed from the Preble's flag stop building, which currently is located at the Southwest corner of the shop building.

The day is supposed to start very cold (getting warmer during the day), and the forecast has snow coming during the day.  So while we're expecting another record crowd, we may not get it.

I'll be there!  Also will try to make it on Friday.  This will be a cold weekend.  Windchill is supposed to be very bad.

Hey Steve,
I accept your offer and I look forward to working with bob heating up the water. I am ready and willing.

See you there,

Operating Plan change:

Due to the weather forecast for Saturday, which we suspect will cause both a smaller public showing and fewer volunteers, we have changed our operating plan to a single train operation.

If you have a long distance to travel to help us- please be careful.  If you can't make it due to the weather- do not worry- we won't hold it against you and will still put you to work the next time you come!

If you decide not to come, please let us know.  We still have a basic crew need across the board (crowd control, parking, train crew, refreshments, etc), so we'd like to plan according to who we expect, if possible.

Thanks,
Jason

I think we should still plan on a 2 train operation, just in case. At least be ready with the second train on standby

Work done on Saturday December 17:

* Victorian Christmas.  It started snowing before 7, and was starting to come to an end around 4.  We got 4 or 5 inches.  It was also somewhat cold, temp was 6 this morning and is might have got up to early 20s.  All this to say we broke no records today.  We may have gotten 500.  We had no trouble fitting people on the trains.  Just one train set.  We turned #52 on the table so the plow pointed south, and 52 pulled the train south while 9 pulled it north.
* Boxcar 67: After Zack got wet getting the water tank filled he decided to stay at Sheepscot, so he finished flooring the boxcar.
