Track to 218
That's probably the 2025 FWW

new Trout Brook Bridge
2022 FWW

new rolling stock
If you define "new" as Boxcar 67, most probably.

I think Top of Mountain "Temm's Mills Siding" will get attention, and we will be finishing the North Yard/car barn track fettling.

FWIW the woods track may get attention as well.  It would be nice to have some of it in service for setting things out of the way.

Hoping the switch parts are ready. Kind of a pain bolting and un-bolting to change tracks.

Looks like the priority projects are shaping up as:

1.  ToM siding
2.  Main line maintenance (Diana's preference.  EDIT:  Dana's preference also.  Don't actually know a Diana.)
3.  Telephone line work
4.  Woods track/ north yard work
 Then smaller projects.

Subject to change, then change back.

See ya

Mike,

I missed the fellow that delivered the Stewartstown RR switch parts northward by a day or so; otherwise there would be one set of points (mostly machined) in Sheepscot soon.

The big mill at BSM is getting set up to do some work for the trolley museum in Scranton, but I'm hoping to get some time in to either work on another set of points or at least complete the first set.  Then to get them north for you... we'll work on that as the time gets closer.

No worries Dave. I know how long things take. Excellent progress by you so far, and can't wait to see the end result. It will be much appreciated.

Maybe we ought to concentrate on finishing up some projects and maintaining what we have before whaling into anything new. For example, the carhouse we built last year still needs painting, and the track inside needs to be properly ballasted and surfaced. The Woods track needs to be built and surfaced up. Assuming the turntable is completed, realigning track seven to the turntable and finishing up ballast and surface on the lead from the North Yard await. There are always ties to be replaced and track to be re-surfaced out on the main line. Bill Baskerville has been trying for more than a year now to get all the joints on the main track properly drilled and bolted, and Joe Fox has been trying to replace bad ties, mostly single-handed. It seems to me that building the siding to the proposed sawmill/shingle mill complex can wait until next spring.

I agree with Wayne.
Unfinished projects become an unwelcome 'pita' as  new ones are added,  are ignored as interest turns to more challenging tasks.

Finish the turntable.
Paint the car barn, finish ballasting its tracks.
Finish the woods track for transfer use and car storage.
Build a section house jigger track.
Do necessary mainline trackwork.
Continue vacuum brake installations.
Finish boxcar 67.
Continue 21 Campaign.

THEN--
Build the TOM spur, plan and build the mills there.
Fill in the first mainline washout, surface the new track to and over it, for now.

The reason we keep a lot of projects going is to keep everyone busy. One year we had about Ten people working on switches in the North yard and Thirty people watching. That's not good! Some people got tired of watching and went home early. What is being spread thin is the money. Money to buy steel culverts and gravel for the next Northern washout. Needing extra money for the boxcar and turntable. Were keeping the woods track for the high school kids to do. The ballasting in the cat barn and North yard is pretty well completed. A lot of the money coming in this fall will help pay for the rail as well as the Clark property. All in all I think we're doing pretty well with out projects.  Some of the jobs require only a small amount of people working on them. Turntable and boxcar for example.

I see two very important reasons to proceed with the siding at ToM.

First- our plans there are absolutely integral to the growth of our museum.  We have realized that we need to provide some historical context to what we offer the visiting public.  For us- that will manifest as a destination along the railroad- one which highlights the railroad's importance as a source of transportation.  Getting a way from "a train ride through the woods" is imperative to building our brand.  We can't survive offering what we currently offer.  The mill complex at ToM is the first of hopefully many sights to see along the railroad.

Second- we absolutely need two main track projects at work weekends.  The division of the main crew allows a much greater labor efficiency by keeping more hands busy.

We do spend a good deal of effort thinking though our choice of work weekend activitities.  Work weekend is about projects which require many hands.  Boiler building, turntables, boxcars, etc, don't require a large labor pool.  The woods track isn't helpful without competed switches (that is not intended as a negative shot at Dave; we all offer what we're able to offer).

In short- development at top of mountain is not busy work nor is it an excuse to build track.  We view it as integral to our growth.  It is a many faceted project which will require several years to come to fruition.  This is one step along the way; as step which happens to require many hands and as such is well suited for a work weekend.

See ya
Jason

Also remember, we can build 150 feet of track on a work weekend in about 3 hours. This is about all we will have room to build this year.

And have no fear. The board hears recommendations and then can set priority to any specific project. And what ever we get done is what we get done.
