Maybe we ought to concentrate on finishing up some projects and maintaining what we have before whaling into anything new. For example, the carhouse we built last year still needs painting, and the track inside needs to be properly ballasted and surfaced. The Woods track needs to be built and surfaced up. Assuming the turntable is completed, realigning track seven to the turntable and finishing up ballast and surface on the lead from the North Yard await. There are always ties to be replaced and track to be re-surfaced out on the main line. Bill Baskerville has been trying for more than a year now to get all the joints on the main track properly drilled and bolted, and Joe Fox has been trying to replace bad ties, mostly single-handed. It seems to me that building the siding to the proposed sawmill/shingle mill complex can wait until next spring.
