LaV locomotive No57 description
« Reply #15 on: May 04, 2016, 02:40:09 PM »
locomotive 57

The locomotive 57 was restored from what remained of the "Triunpho" a O & K 0-4-0T the plant Cruangi in Timbaúba - PE. Taking advantage only wheelsets with their bearings and the two cylinders, everything in it is new. The wheels were milled and whole movement was rebuilt by adopting the Southern system. The cylinders were machined and the rods again won new bushing.

Built to place 57 a front set of guide wheel, which turns the machine into a 2-4-0. With this new attachment to place 57 goes smoothly in tight turns of our railway. We made ??her an entirely new trend, giving comfort to the water and firewood supply service. The boiler received timbre to 8.4 atm. The locomotive was inaugurated in August 2010.

Locomotive 62 - You know, I've looked at these pictures again.  The loco may still be 600 mm gauge, but its not clear.  Other photos make it look like it has been widened.  See what you think.  At any rate, it has been sold.

LaV locomotive No89

locomotive 89

The locomotive 89 was rebuilt on the farm premises, from an abandoned machine in a junkyard in Campos, Rio de Janeiro, on the Ides of 1996. We do not know its origin, but we suppose it was a Baldwin 0-4-2 1915 or more. Drew attention cylinders - typically American, but bolted to the chassis plate as a O & K or Kerr-Stuart.

The two blocks of the cylinders were cast new, as replicas of the alleged Baldwin. The two wheelsets had to be remanufactured in the workshops of the Superhighway (Rio de Janeiro, RJ). The chassis was made ??from new structural plate. The boiler had its specifications and construction details dictated by the Lincoln Payala engineer.

We had to recreate a movement mechanism based on Marshal system, inclined 25º from the horizontal. However, instead of the transmission bar (transmitting the back-and-forth of the cam bar to the rod tray), we made ??a "square", that describes an event line without distortions to the drawer, both for forward as for re. Thus the movement of the calibration becomes very easy, and the rhythmic sound in the forward + reverse gear proves the effectiveness of the mechanism. Each bracket is made ??from two linear guides, arranged 90 ° apart (thus the part name).

In the photo we see the 1 block from the casting.

In photo 2 we see the parallels constructed with linear guides, and the rods of chromed piston and welded directly into your eyelets.

In picture 4 we see the adjustment movement when the locomotive is brought forward and backward with the aid of a tractor.

Photo 8: towing loco No. 3 two wagons bib.

The other photos show the site 89 touring the farm.

The locomotive 89 was inaugurated in 2007. It is a robust engine, easy to be conducted and very economical.

Data:
- Diameter of rolls: 24.5 cm
- Pistons of course: 37.0 cm
- Wheel diameter: 68.0 cm (locomotive type 0-4-0)
- Rigid base of the wheels: 1.80 m
- Working pressure: 114 lbs
- Heating surface: 28.8 m², with 125 pipes Ø 1 ½ "x 2.0 m
- Volume of water in the boiler (level 12 cm above the furnace sky): 1.43 m³
- Volume of water in the tender: 3.30 m³
- Approximate weight of the locomotive with tender (without water): 13 ton
- Total length of the locomotive + tender: 8 m

LaV locomotive No100

locomotive 100

The locomotive No. 100 is an entirely new machine 2-4-0 with the cylinders equal to the Loco 89, and their pistons are hard aluminum to give less inertia in the reciprocating motion. 3. The tilt in the same motion made ??cylindrical blocks stay higher relative to the ground, protecting drains and giving greater visibility to go inside.

An interesting innovation is the application of two independent Steam regulators,
at the sides of the de-smoke-box.

The boiler won timbre of 9.1 atm (130 lb). The tender had increased its reservoir for 3700 liters. The idler assembly was slightly modified, the construction of the locomotive lasted two years and was completed in 2012.

locomotive 148

The locomotive 148 has earned this new number after restoring the farm workshops in 2001. She was the No. 2 of the former plant Cambaíba in Campos, State of Rio de Janeiro, and arrived at our railroad in 1999. Everything in it was very deteriorated ; The two cylinders were again mandrilados and sewed up pistons of greater diameter (9 ½ "9 ¾"). All parts of Stephenson movement were remanufactured. The furnace was restored and the boiler received new mirrors and pipes. The following photos of the main stages of restoration.

1 - 148 locomotive fueling for a ride in EF, July 2002.

2 - Dismantling, March 2000.

3 - Mandrilando the cylinder to the new diameter.

4 - Alignment of the wheel axles by ruler.

5 - Boiler lining and furnace; adjusting movement.

6 - Gauging the boiler for approval.

7 - Locomotive 148 with the water tank.

8 - In Paraiba do Sul - RJ, where it was sold in 2002.
