Pattern storage
« on: November 17, 2024, 11:11:43 PM »
Last year (FWW 2023) I donated some shelves for pattern storage, and we bought some boxes in which to store them. Somebody set the shelves up! Thank you!
Unfortunately, we could not make it to the Fall Work Weekend, but we rode Amtrak up the 2nd weekend in November, from Syracuse to Boston South Station, then North Station to Brunswick then car rental. I helped with logging on Saturday, Ewa helped organize the gift shop, and we went touring Sunday morning and saw the Kennebec Central. Sunday afternoon I boxed up all the patterns that I could find that would fit.

There remains more work:
  • I labeled some of the shelves with white tape and a list of patterns on that shelf. More needs to be labeled.
  • The long shelves were assembled with their vertical rods upside down. The leveling feet cannot be added unless they get turned right-side-up.
  • Once everything has been labeled, the shelves and boxes should be numbered and an online index should be created so that patterns may be easily located.
  • One of the patterns (photos included) is not labeled, although the style of construction implies that it's for #11. Anybody recognize it?
  • There are other, older, patterns on the floor in the back. They should get some love, too.

If nobody else gets to it before I do, then I'll do it, but it won't happen until FWW.

Russ,

I was the one who set up the shelves and started to organize the patterns.  Thank you for continuing to work on it.  I couldn't make FWW due to illness but my plan is to bring more stuff from Cattail in December (weather permitting).

Russ,

Thanks for continuing this work.

The pattern in your photos is for the truss rod termination block on the Sheepscot Station turntable.

Thanks
