Rust Removal using Electrolysis
« on: November 10, 2013, 10:35:59 AM »
I thought that I would pass this along.  Rust removal can be a big problem for anyone restoring cast iron items.  The first video details the process and the second video shows that the size of the project is only limited by the size of the tank used.  The other videos are examples.

Really big tank.

I've used this myself, what you use depends on what the item is and what you want to use it for. For many items good old vinegar and water at about 6 to 1 works well. For things that can handle it like old wrenches I tumble them in a cement mixer with chicken grit and water.
