Hey guys,
I tried to upload my Trip Report as word or pdf but it didn't work, so I'd like to refer you to my 10 page trip report posted at

http://ngdiscussion.net/phorum/read.php?1,277161,277161#msg-277161

I'm proud to say I rode in the cab of a 60cm O&K copy 0-6-0WT that was only 2 weeks old, BRAND NEW and available for purchase for only about €200,000. No assemble required. Batteries, Coal or Wood not included, spar parts and service available.

or go directly to my 500 pictures and read the report later...https://www.flickr.com/photos/thor-windbergs/

Glad to answer any questions.
cheers
Thor

Thank you, Thor, for sharing your beautiful photographs. I had never heard of the Latvian museum. It looks well worth the visit. I was wondering if you've ever had the opportunity to visit the Wirsitzer Kreisbahn in Bialosliwie, Poland. It's a 60cm operation which appears to be making great strides towards reopening a pretty substantial amount of railway. Here is a Youtube video of this some of this year's operations: http://youtu.be/t-lFxA1i1Jo

I've noticed you've shown photos of Brigadeloks in several of you postings. Perhaps you will find this article interesting: www.penmorfa.com/JZ/ohrid.html

Thanks again,

John

I had the opportunity to ride a portion of that line in 1991. I even got some "throttle time" behind an 0-8-0t.

Thanks for the video.

Hey John,
Thanks for the Video I hadn't see that yet. It is interesting as one our trip to Latvia I heard from my colleagues in FFM that one of our engines made a field trip recently but I didn't hear the whole story. And lo and behold there is our Lok3-Decauville-Typ3-Bn2t the small engine with dark green side tanks. Man I didn't know that she could go that fast. Looks like a very interesting railroad and will definitely be on my list to visit by next time there is some sort of festival. Found some more information (in German) if you care. Had to search for it in Google Earth to place it in my perspective.

That is one pretty little tank engine! I wondered where she came from. I'm also impressed by the speed she's making in the videos. Guess outside frames do make for steady runners!
Thanks for the article link. My German is pitiful but google translate helps me get the idea. I had posted some videos from youtube on this forum of a series of excursions on the Bromberger and Wirsitzer from 1992, when the system was still mostly intact and running some freight. Unfortunately, that posting degenerated into bad puns, for which I may have had slight responsibility!

Thanks, again for your photos. Someday, I'm going to have to get back to Germany and see the FFM!

Hi Thor!
I enjoyed reading your trip report. It's nice to see that steam preservation lives in the former Soviet Bloc countries.
I'd be very interested in hearing more, especially about Lithuania as that's where my maternal great-grandmother came from.
Thanks again.  ;)
