Point of clarification, this is Ed G's new Forney.

Ed L is an admirer of Ed G's craftsmanship.

Remember, two Eds are better than one!

Over the years Ed has been showing us the progress and excellent workmanship on this locomotive.  Thanx for showing it in operation.  Ed, may you enjoy it for many more years.

Remember, if two "Ed's" are better than one, two wrongs don't make a right but two Wrights did make an airplaine.

Ira,  For that you should get 10-15 at Leavenworth ... or 5-10 at Woolworths   ;D

Maybe to differentiate, Ed G could be refered to as "a good Ed of steam".

I had the pleasure to see Ed G's Forney Saturday in person. Such a nice piece of work. After his first run around the track, which is about 2000 feet, I had to leave, but snapped this pic of Joe playing with running Ed's locomotive on the second trip around.

Here is a video of his first trip, or most of it.

Also, Dwight was there with an impressive speeder car. But I took no pictures of it.

Thanks, Mike for the post.

Congratulations, Ed (G)!  Great to see the Forney running!
What–me worry?

What happens when it's a tie at the crossing?

Ed's 9 looks great, as does Joe running it (under Ed's watchful eye...)

Beautiful work Ed. Hope to see it up close sometime!
I wonder... when are we going to build bulkhead flats and 4 bay hoppers for the WW&F?

Take care,
Steve

Ed's engine ran very well, and was a pleasure to get a chance to see it and operate it. That was my first time running a miniature steam engine, and it was a blast. First trip around was getting used to how the engine would handle or respond. Then the second trip was much more enjoyable.

Is that a road the train is crossing? What does the FRA say about that.  And if Ed can cross the road, why can't the WW&F?

I'm quite certain the road Ed is crossing is private.

Crossing a public road is the trip mechanism for the applicability of most relevant federal regulations (save bridges; we already need to comply with federal regulations for that).

The WW&F certainly can cross a public road; we simply choose not to at this time as it's not consistent with our current plans for the medium term future.

That is not a road that Ed is crossing. That is a private 7 - 1/4" gauge line that is 100% on private property in Waldoboro, Maine.
I'm not quite sure what you were looking at as that miniature line doesn't even cross a garden path.

Crossing a public highway at grade incurs massive insurance liability.

FRA regs apply to "track gauge of 24" or larger".  If we were 23 7/8", we'd be home free.
