Work done on Saturday July 19:

* ROW mowing: Fred and Bill R mowed the west side of the track from MP 7 to past Rosewood Crossing.
* Grading: Mike continued grading with the Kubota.
* #9: Jason is trying to puzzle together where the injectors go in the cab.  Nothing fits the piping and hole layout in the front steel cab wall very well.

I was able to weed whack all of the top of Judy Fossel’s ROW section.  I had to drive in using her road and first weed whack my way from where the cars park all the way down to the ROW as the brush had grown up there.  Now it is clear but is was a big distraction that took most of my time for the day.  I also did a little bit going north from the washout where the road meets the ROW on up into the former Kelly property but not that much.  There is only a very short section between where Mike is grading and where I stopped because I ran out of gas for the weed whacker.

Work done on Sunday, July 20th -

Cloudy day but there were nearly 60 visitors, two of which purchased memberships.

* #9  - Marcel worked on the cab roof, with much time spent on the front edge trim.

* Caboose 320 - More work on the interior, especially the cuploa ladder and seats.  The car must be finished and ready for a charter on Thursday when a German group will visit Sheepscot.  They requested a freight train so 320 will bring up the markers.

Last Thursday, the 17th Fred and Dwight started at the 218 crossing and cut brush north on the ROW  to the present end of the ROW at Head Tide. On Friday afternoon, the 18th we went back with a chain saw and removed the fallen trees that were accross the ROW.

The German tour group has requested a freight train for Thursday's charter.  There will be work getting 309 out and the flatcars off the upper yard spur.  J.B. is in charge of the event and has advised that we will start switching around 3:00 with #52 while the steam crew fires up #10.  Once 10 is ready, we'll get 320 out to complete the consist.

We cleared all the blown down and small trees on the top of the former Kelly ROW and if we have the energy, we will mow the top of the ROW there sunday.  Then you will be able to go from end of track to head tide again.  (on foot)  It is quite passable now but you have to walk around the washout areas, which is no big deal.  Nice hike when the Trout brook water is low like it is now and you won't get too wet.  Rubber boots are a drier solution to that problem.

Along the active railroad, the ROW has been completely cut on both sides from the end of track south to about 45 feet north of the logging bridge culvert, or about 845 feet north of the logging road crossing at the north end of Albee's field.  Fred, along with Dwight, has done a tremendous amount of work on this stretch.
What–me worry?

Dave, We try to start North about 8:00 or 8:15. If we know someone is coming we'll wait for them. Sat. I have to get lunch for everyone, How's 5 pounds of bacon sound? People always need salt when working hard.
