« on: July 02, 2014, 05:55:10 AM »
Anticipated work for weekend of July 5:

* Friday is Independence Day.  The WW&F will have a presence in the Wiscasset parade.
* Mike Fox plans to mow with ROWMOW, if there's no rain (there probably will be).
* Saturday afternoon is the Ice Cream Social, unless Arthur forces us to move it to Sunday.
* Continued TOM excavation.
* #9
* First weekend of steam for July & August.

I've heard that Arthur does as he pleases ...

(That's the best that I can do)

Work done Friday, July 4th:  (before the rain storm arrived)

* R-O-W - Mike and Dwight took rowmow out, getting much line side grass cut.

* Percival House - Zack continued removing the old back porch.

* Garage - Some donated tools and equipment were sorted through.

* Chow - Fred fixed a nice lunch and Cindy & Dawn made the pulled pork lunch for Sat & Sun.

Ice cream social is still on for this afternoon!  Arthur's rainstorm should be out of here mid-morning, might even have sunshine this afternoon.  Take the 1:30, 2:30 or 3:30 trains for the social.

Work done on Saturday July 5:

* The rain stopped around 9, so after that point most of the crew left the safety of the Percival house and started to work.  Mike and I took the diesel north to check for blowdowns or other problems after last night's rain storm.  Humason Brook was high and fast, but the trestle was steady.  No issues.  End of track grading needs the east side ditch dug out.
* Ice Cream Social: In the morning the Social train got assembled (Coach 3, Car 103, and the caboose) then put at the station after 12:30 left.  Jud Caswell set up in the open car and a generator was put on the south end of the caboose.  Good ice cream.  Conductor JB told me 100 people but I didn't ask if that was for the day or for the 3 Social trips.  Photos coming soonish.

As an interesting note, as the last train south was crossing the trestle, a maple tree fell over behind it, blocking the line. It was observed by Hansel, doing exactly what he was supposed to be doing. Watching the track behind him. We took the diesel up and cut it out of the tracks. Then, much to our amusement, the 20 foot section I had not cut yet stood slowly back up on the side of the brook. So there is a 20 foot stub we will need to cut down next weekend, or in the near future. All good wood. No rot. The last thing I did was finish mowing the ROWMOW grass.

Unfortunately my phone was dead at this point, so no pics from me. But when you have a teenager with you, they usually have a phone. So here I am, under the supervision of Hansel, dicing up the tree. Bryce Weeks took this shot standing next to the trestle.

Anticipated work for weekend of July 12:

* Friday the 11th at 4:30 PM is the July board meeting.  All members are welcome (but we can only fit about a dozen).
* Friday is also a right of way mowing day.  See Fred if you want to help.
* Top of Mountain grading: No extended rain forecasted, so Mike (and others) should be able to continue grading.
* #9: I think Jason is working on Friday and Monday.
* Tree cleanup: clean up the tree trash from last Saturday's falling tree.

I'll be at the museum about 8:00 Friday if anyone wants to cut grass. I'd like to go to the end of track, but I won't go alone.
