World status of two-foot gauge Baldwin(ish) locomotives

Hi,

I was just doing a little thinking and thought I'd see if anyone can add to this list:

Number of currently operational two-foot gauge Baldwin locomotives in the world today:

I can think of 4 operational locos, 3 to 5 more under repair, and 3 being constructed new. 
They are:

Brecon Mountain Rwy (UK) - 1 operational (4-6-2), 1 under repair (2-6-2), two being constructed new (2-4-4RT and 2-6-2)
Leighton Buzzard Rwy (UK) - 1 operational (4-6-0T)
DHR (India) - 1 operational (0-4-0T)
Dreamwold (Aus) - 1 operational (4-6-0T)
WHR (UK) - 1 under repair (4-6-0T)
Maine Narrow Gauge (US) - 1 under repair (2-4-4RT)
WW&F (US) - 1 being constructed new (2-4-4RT)

Any others?  EFPP (Brazil) 2-4-0 under repair?, Ashover (UK) 4-6-0T under repair?)

To the "under repair/restoration" list, I think we should include S.D. Warren No. 2 (0-4-0T) at Boothbay.

There is also this mysterious little Baldwin 0-4-0T in New Jersey, which I understand has recently been rescued and may (or may not) be under restoration. It appears to be similar to the S. D. Warren engines:

The steamlocomotive.info site lists several other two-foot gauge Baldwins around the world as "operational", for example South African Railways No. 62 (4-6-2, Baldwin C/N 42634, 1916) in Randfontein, SA, but I don't know how current this information may be. (B&SR No. 8 at MNGRR is also listed as "operational", for what it's worth.)

Does anyone know the current status of this beautiful engine? It appears quite similar to the 4-6-2 at Brecon Mountain (which I know is not ex-SAR), and strongly resembles SR&RL No. 23.

Exactly, which is why the "operational" status of other engines on steamlocomotive.info shouldn't be taken as fact. The information may be long out of date, or even entirely incorrect.

Tough shape is being generous when describing that. Wow. To even cosmetically restore it will be something. Asbestos must still be in the jacket if it sat for that long

The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in UK is building a replica of Lyn, the Baldwin 2-4-2T built for the original company in 1898 that became Southern Railway No.762. It is currently expected to be finished in 2015.

If you aren't restricting yourself to steam locomotives, then another addition would be Moelwyn, the WW1 petrol locomotive bought by the Ffestiniog in the 1920s. Originally an 0-4-0 it's now a 2-4-0 diesel, with a Gardner 4LK engine. It retains its original superstructure and Baldwin gearbox, running gear, etc. The front bogie was originally made in 1957 from half of a Krupp Feldbahn wagon bogie, and bits of angle iron from a scrapped slate wagon. It's since been rebuilt using bits from a WW1 Hudson type 'D' bogie wagon.

The Moelwyn name is also something of an Anglo-Welsh pun on Baldwin. It's the name of a local mountain, but in Welsh 'wyn' means bald.

How funny! The Welsh tend to have a very playful sense of humor.

I think it's the "moel" part that means bald, however. My mother's maiden name was Moylan, which in Irish Gaelic (a language closely related to Welsh) also means bald.

In Germany at the Frankfurter Field Railway Museum we have an original Baldwin 50hp 0-4-0 Gas mechanical entering restoration this year....

EFPP (Brazil) has no Baldwin near restoration, if the Group ever gets moving again and finances they would probably restore the No.10 2-6-2T. Most are at collection sites of Km10.5 Natura, Km5.5 Corredor or Km1 Perus Cement Plant, one is in the original city/railroad Dumont where it came and I know of 2 more 0-6-2ST in good condition private as well as probably 3 converted from 60cm to 1m...where do you draw the line. EFOM has lots of 76cm 2ft6 Baldwins with 2-3 operational in San Joa do Rei.
