Southern Railway 154 bell stolen
« on: August 01, 2013, 05:02:13 PM »
Terry Kasabian asked me to post this:

Hello All,

The Three Rivers Rambler's (TRR) former Southern Railway steam loco No. 154 had its bell stolen within the last day or so.  The news is going through the rail preservation movement and history circles very quickly.  TRR is located in Knoxville, TN  Hopefully, they will find who did this.

A beautiful, 2-8-0 built in 1890 (!) this engine returned to active service in 2010.

Please see the attached image / poster.

A quote from the TRR facebook page:

Someone has stolen the bell off of our Southern 154 Steam Engine. If you have any knowledge of who may have stolen it or its location please send your information to kmw@gulfandohio.com as soon as possible. There will be a reward given should we retrieve the bell with the information you provide. You can also call our office at 865-525-9400 from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Thank you.

Here's a link to the Three Rivers Ramblers FB page:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Three-Rivers-Rambler/35053372553

Would be good if all of you can pass the word around.

People are scum...  :(

Thanks,
Steve

As much as the perps should be prosecuted, in order of importance, retrieving the bell is first.  So, I would humbly suggest that the word be spread that if the bell is returned, no questions will be asked.

Yes, the thief might collect the reward, but they would at least have the bell back.

It's a shame that things have come to this.
