We are supposed have spectacular weather tomorrow for the Fall Festival! Clear skies with near record high temperatures in the low 70's.

Work done on Saturday Sept 28:

We had wonderful weather for the Fall Festival: sunny, warm temps.  We had a great turnout too - somewhere around 200 people.  The Hallowell Community Band (combined with the Bath band, I was told) played from 10:45 to about 12:15, with about 30 people playing.  They sounded really good!  Then we had a horse drawn wagon in the afternoon, drawn by two horses.  Later a miniature horse and sulkie came by (quite a difference between the two).
* Fred and Dwight mowed north of Alna Center

Activities at AC included face painting/kids tatoos, apple bobbing, sack races, the pumpkin patch and the hay ride on the railroad's Model AA truck.  A new game was added this year, it was a water filled basin full of rubber ducks.  Each duck had a colored dot underneath.  The children were asked to pull two ducks out of the water. They had three tries.  If the colors on the bottom of the two ducks matched, they won a prize. Prizes were the "Harry's Train" book which were very well received.  (The kids like the gift and the book helps promote the museum, win-win).

Everyone seemed to have a good time.  The hay ride carried over 90 people, making 3-4 trips when each train was in. Many thanks to Leon who helped guests into the back of the truck and guided me as I backed to the steps at the end of the ride.  Another big help was the train crew who advised guests where things were as they arrived at AC.  The AC field crew helped visitors with information on games and let them know when the train would depart for Sheepscot.  This was important for those who wanted to take the hay ride but wanted to catch the next train back.  Some people enjoyed the activities so much that they stayed between trains.

Many thanks to the kitchen crew who made snacks for the refreshment table and shipped a nice lunch up for the 12 or so volunteers working all day.

AC Crew -

* Games - Jamie, Jasmine, Jada, Jenna, Jarrett and Cindy
* Refreshment table - Jeanne
* Hay ride - Leon, Start, Hansel
* AC station agent - Start
* News photographer - Don
* Telephone man - John M. (also news photos)

Even without the tripod, the shots are very steady. You did a great job keeping the scenery centered while the AA bounced around. Editing has some nice touches, too. :)

An indication of how our visitors enjoyed the Fall Festival:

There was a donation box on the refreshment table at AC and we recieved about $90
