Golden Spike on the W H R
« on: February 24, 2009, 10:43:51 PM »
It looks like the golden spike ceremony marking the completion of the rebuilding of the Welsh Highland Railway will take place this weekend.  The ceremony will be held in Portmadoc, where the WHR will be linked with the Ffestiniog, the railway that inspired the two footers on this side of the Atlantic.
Well Done!

According to the Isengard WHR news site, the 'penultimate' (I like that word) panel was laid today but the golden bolt was not attached.  It will be done on Sunday.

Alas it appears pre-startup train movements will be done at night in order to avoid traffic.  Boo hoo no pictures.
