Great sound, especially on the first freight run-by! Number 10 has a really nice bark :)

FYI -

Stephen Hussar posted a photo of the evening freight train at Alna Center.

Great picture as always, but would be more "realistic" in black and white format.

Here's the ground-level view of the run-by at Rosewood Crossing.   There was just enough light left to get the locomotive without any shadows.

I really like the shot.  It's currently my desktop background both at home and at work.  So glad we got there when we did!

I see somebody forgot to hook the chain up in front of the loco!  ::)

The chain may be down but it isn't stopping people from checking out the image.   It's had over 2,500 views in just a few days.  I think when people see the names "Stephen Hussar" or "WW&F Railway" they are more likely to click the link to see the latest fine image by our own master photographer.  Just sayin ...

I can't quite tell from the photos....   Is that chain long enough to actually drag on the ground or on the rails?   If so, does it make any noise that might alert the crew that something isn't right?

The hook drags on the rail, but not enough so that you hear it until it hits something, like a crossing or a switch or a low joint.  Takes a few minutes to realize you're hearing it.

If you have ever seen the movie "Emperor of the North Pole" with Lee Marvin, a dangling chain can be very effective at keeping hobos off the train.  :)

All -

Stephen H. told us that he will be posting more WW&F photos on the railpictures.net site.  The idea is to add a new photo each week until the Fall Work weekend in order to promote the up coming event.

Here's the latest:

I see that the two photos that Stephen H. posted on railpictures (links are above) have done well.  The first shot from Alna Center has gotten 2,800 views while the second from a previous work weekend has 3,000.  The pictures should stir up the interest for the Fall Work Weekend that's just a week away.
