Prose/Lyrics

You know you're a WW&F fan when you change song lyrics to match the railroad.

For example;

Climb to Top of the Mountain
Ford Carlton stream
Follow the old right of way,
until you find your dream ...

A dream that will need all the work you can give,
every weekend of your life for as long as you live.

Stewart, that's pretty good.  I had no idea you are such a good lyricist.

every weekend of your life for as long as you live.

Stewart I think you nailed it.  The only way to make it more accurate would be to remove "end" from "weekend".

And properly name "Carlton Brook" to Trout Brook, its correct name.

You might say you are a poet and don't know  it.
However, your feet show it.
The're Longfellows!!

Appologies to Henry W.

Hey Ira, I know it's Trout Brook but I needed a two syllable name to fit the music's timing  (Climb Every Mountain)
A little poetic license - with apologies to Rodgers and Hammerstein!  Here's another one for the railroad -

I get up in the morning and I've got some rail to lay.
Pack up all my track tools, I've got to get away.
Jump onto the Brookville and the time is getting tight.
I've got to keep on moving, got a switch to right.

Cuz I'm movin' on, layin' rail from town to town.
Movin' on Dana, our flanged wheels can't touch the ground.

A little verse:

The was a man from Wiscasset,
Who had a loco that barked like a Bassett,
On each trip around,
it went on the ground,
and that was the end of the asset!!

You think up another song for the railroad while driving to work.

Rain drops on switch points and Fred's planting roses.
Bright copper sand pipes and Bob's got cold toes-es.
A stack of new two-foot books tied up with string,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Track guys in denim and grease on the steam crew.
The brakeman is tired and wanting a cold brew.
Recycled bottles piled up in bay one,
these are a few of the things that are fun.

When the flies bite when the bee stings when I'm getting mired,
I simply remember  my narrow gauge friends and then I don't feel so tired.

And..........
The was a young engineer from Head Tide,
Whose loco was his joy and his pride,
While rounding a curve,
a large moose made it swerve,
and soon the pretty loco was lying on its side.

There was an engineer from China(er).
whose engine was spiffy and finer,
As he raced cross China Bog,
the loco struck a large log,
and that is the end of this five liner!!

There was an engineer from Whitefield,
While traveling across a bright field,
got bright sun in his eyes,
never saw all the rotted ties,
and is now pushing up daisies in a potters field.

There was an engineer from Coopers Mills,
whose loco raced up all the hills,
but while racing on down,
heading towards town,
He smiled and said " oh, what thrills".

There was an engineer from Weeks Mills,
who sped through the snow just for thrills,
as the loco went over the top,
he said alound, "I hope I can stop"
before we all suffer the chills.

There was an fireman from Palermo,
who kept a fire like an inferno,
the coal burned too hot,
the grates then got upsot,
the engineer then said "that was a no-no.
