LOL - Good one Ed!

Here's another ...

You can spike or you can shovel and have the time of your life.
See that rail watch that scene join the spiking team.

Saturday and the steam is high,
watch it drift up into the sky.
10 is ready for workin'
down the track we run,
we're gonna have some fun.

Got a real good crew today,
they work real hard and get no pay.
Time to get all the tools on,
then we get some rail,
how can we ever fail?

And when we swing those mauls ...

We are the spiking team,
big and mean maybe 17.
Spiking team, feel the beat,
hear the steel ring!

You can spike you can shovel,
having the time of your life.
See that rail, watch that scene,
dig in spiking team.

There is a rail museum in Maine
many think volunteers are insane
they work hard all day
and occasionally play but they all
go home in great pain.

Dale,  My wife got the movie "Mamma Mia" for Christmas, it features the music of group ABBA.  The movie got played a number of times.  After hearing the sound track I wrote the poem.  I like ABBA's music and have always looked at their name as the railfans perfect lash up of F-Units  :D

New song for the Winter of 2010-11.  To the tune of Roy Orbisons  "Only The Lonely"

Only the snowed in
Feel the way I feel tonight,
Only the snowed in
can see my plight...

There's my new snow rake
With all the rods
Let's clean the roof off
Oh what a job!

A little tune for Fred for his 10,000 hours volunteering at the WW&F -

You are our Sunshine, our only Sunshine,

You make us happy when the grade is clay,

You'll never know Fred, how much we like you ...

Please don't take our chain saws away!

Things to do during a hurricane - check the cellar, test the generator, fill the tub with water, get your Three Stooges DVD's out, put fresh batteries in the portable radio and tether your elephants.

When that stuff is done ya write lyrics for the theme song of the soon to be released WW&F movie ... Breakfast at Freddies.

Loon River, wider than a mile

I'm crossing you in style, narrow gauge.

That trim Forney that's up before me -

Where ever she's going, I'm going her way.

Two boxcars, tied down by the mill

there's such a lot of wood to load.

We're after some coal ... near the end.

Waitin round the bend.

My two-foot flatcar friend,

Loon River and me.

Hey,  I didn't say good lyrics   ;)
