Is there a simple map of Wiscassett, or could someone draw one, that shows where the milk wagon is. What railroad(s) use the diamond behind the WW&F track?

If you follow Route 1 right down to the water's edge, you'll see a parking area just south of the highway, between the railroad and the water. That is is the former location of the Turner Centre Dairy. The replica TCDA car will be placed parallel to the railroad along the edge of the deck next to the parking area. If you look carefully along the edge of the parking area, you can see pilings on which the WW&F track was built. The line of pilings angles south toward the shore. On the other side of the big bridge, going north, you'll see the town's sewage treatment plant. That's where the WW&F station was, and continuing north a bit, you'll see two baseball fields behind the Wiscasset Middle School. The field closest to the water is where the yard and shops were located, and in high summer, when it is quite dry, the outline of the turntable pit becomes visible in the grass in right field.

Last time we were in the area where the shops were, you could see what looked like a track pit in the ground under a clump of underbrush.

The std. gage rr is ex Maine Central's Rockland Branch. Tracks are now state owned and run by Maine Eastern.This railroad runs both freight and passenger service.

The std,/2ft diamond was removed after WW&F stopped running. I do not know what year.     I know where there is a std/2 ft diamond in Maine, about a 1 1/2 hour ride from the museum. Would make a great exhibit at the WW&F

Thanks, Dale, I'll have to remember that it is like Connecticut with one t at the end. Connecticut Ave. in Atlanta was the first street I lived on and the first word I learned to spell. S-H-O-T spelled out by the doctor was the second word I learned to spell and the first I feared.

The remnants of a locomotive water tank also were visible along the shore in the old car shop area several years back when I was last there.
