Hello all,

For those who ask how things are at Conway Scenic, I thought I might start a topic.

Things are going great. :)

We are currently working on installing 83 switch ties, and 570 cross ties on the Conway Line. Yesterday I installed 18 ties in an hour, and today I installed 129 ties in one day, which beats my previous record of last year at 106 ties in a day. Maine Track Maintenance is working with us with a crew of 3 guys, and are doing all the spiking with hydraulic spike hammers. I must say, they have no problem keeping up.

Conway Scenic just opened two weeks ago, and so far ridership has been farely decent, even with the high gas prices. Hopefully the rising gas prices won't discourage tourists from wanting to visit New Engalnd.

Gas prices are beginning to fall around our neighborhood. Hopefully a good sign for summer.

That'd be nice. I noticed over in Maine they are starting to fall, however, here in North Conway, they continue to go up, which is usual when it gets close to tourist season. In the summer gas in North Conway averages 20-25 cents per gallon more than Fryeburg, but in the winter time, it's about 10 cents cheaper than any wheres else.

Yep. I am a full time railroader. Even though its not a freight railroad, it's almost the exact same, and I am trained in a lot of different fields which is really cool, and gives me a nice variety.

I was over to North Conway this past weekend and a friendly voice let out a hello, from the dispatchers office. It was of course Joe with a smile from ear to ear. He spied me outside getting a couple of photos of the locomotives with the Maine Central paint scheme.  I would insert a photo but, just have not figured out how to do it on this forum.

  Its been too long since being up in North Cnnway. I am especially interested in the 2 MEC yellow birds, and the RDC unit. I did see the whole transformation of Engine 573. when it first arrived in Guilford colors to the special Boston & Maine 1573 and Conway 573 paint job. and now all Conway 573. That was really cool with the dual names.
