Boxcar color

I'm building a junk building underneath my son's elevated play house that at age 20, he has long since outgrown. So I've decided to make the lower floor look like a vertically sheathed boxcar. What shade of brown or oxide red do you use and can it be obtained at a hardware store? Exterior latex or oil based?

The museum's freight cars and caboose are painted with Benjamin Moore brand
Cottage Red
. It's an oil based gloss alkyd paint made from Moore's base 110 4B. Regular oil based paint is no longer available in Maine so we may have to get paint from a marine supply store when we paint car 65.

Thanks, Stewart. I hope the neighbors don't complain about this in the woods but I don't think they can see it and that is what counts for neighborhood covenants. I may have to go to a marine dealer, too. I never thought about that.
