Storm Damage
« on: October 17, 2011, 09:10:47 PM »
As a result of my job, I get to tour this state, as well as NH and VT on the company dime. Today brought me through Kingfield, and on up to Carrabasset and into Eustis.

As a result of the storm the end of August, two bridges were washed away on Route 27 near the Bigelow Depot. They are currently under repair. The woods in the area are littered with dead trees and yards of gravel.

Down stream from the bridges, parts of the Narrow Gauge trail got washed away. In places, the water flowed down the grade. In others, it eroded the banks and collapsed the roadbed into the river. This is all repairable, though it will take some effort and material.
