Mat, that is a verry good question. From what I understand, this was one of EDAville's oen cars, built up either from an existing flatcar or rebuilt with the hardware from a B&SR freight car.
I know there's someone on this forum that has better data than I on this, but that's a start.

Matt,
from the web page that shows the current equipment, excursion car 103 was built by Edaville in 1963.  Coach 8 is also listed as being built by Edaville in 1985.  I do not know where the hardware originated - whether it was new or reclaimed from other equipment.
All the best,
Reuben

But...WW&F flatcar 126 was built using hardware from Edaville open car 202...which rumor has it, got its hardware from B&H flatcar no.23! So there's no telling where the hardware for the 103 may have come from  ;)

It is very possible it used to be a boxcar. Most likely all that is left of what ever original car it was is the trucks. Edaville would have had to make longer truss rods as the car is longer than a boxcar or flatcar.

If it was a boxcar then its the same scenario that when the EBT has already converted 2 boxcars into open excursion cars! ;) :) :D
