you drive 538 miles one way for a three-day weekend of building track, then drive home and go straight to work.

Or you get up at 4:15 am to drive 180 miles and return home at the end of the work day. And your fellow volunteer gets up even earlier to meet you at your house because he lives 20 miles south of you. And you do this roughly once a every month and a half.

Matt,

I think the idea of this thread is the crazy things that WW&F fans have personally done. I don't think we need any more ideas of what we *could* be doing.

As for me, you know you're a WW&F Fan when...

...You have logged over 8 days of time on the discussion forum.
...You "plan" the expansion of the WW&F when you're trying to fall asleep.
...You spend almost 8 hours trying to clean the WW&F/No 9. logo for the forum, and still aren't satisfied with the results.
...You (by some miracle) convince your 12yr old daughter that working at the WW&F is fun!

Hmmm....I guess that puts me in the category of WW&F fan too.  I think I've been doing that for the last 15 years.

You know you're a WW&F fan when -

You hear a football games final score of 6 to 3 and you think ... yep, WW&F engine 6 was definately more powerful than engine 3.

How about you know you're a fan when you create a series of WW&F pictures as a rotating screen saver on your computer and just for good measure have a front license plate custom painted of engine #9.

well,

you a fan when,

you have a paperweight that made from cutting a 1 inch slice of rail.
and you have a belt knife that was hand forged ( no machining, all blacksmith stuff) from a railroad spike
A spike saved is a spike earned.

Who's that nut who gets up even earlier to join you?

Oh -- that would be me...   :o

And my computer passwords are WW&F based.  Can you guess what they are, Dave?

Hey Bill,  It's good that you and Kielbasa Dave car pool.  It gave you plenty of time to work on the "Tour of the Narrowgauge Railroad in the Sheepscot Valley" guide book.   You guys did a great job on that publication.   I wish I could get to Sheepscot as often as you but my trip is 580 miles.   A long drive but it's worth the trip to be at Sheepscot and see everybody.  I'm already thinking of my next vacation up north.

Does this sound familiar?!?

You know you're a WW&F fan when ...

You request room 9 when you check into the Wiscasset Motor Lodge.

Bill;
Brian's college fund has already been pledged to the Museum. I just have one more password to go...
Stewart,
We don't ask for a specific room number but Nancy reserves a room for Bill and I for track weekends without even being asked. And we have "solved" many Museum issues on our rides up to Paradise.

Dave,
I know what you mean about the lodge.  I call up for a reservation and they guess who it is first time.  And they always give me the same room without asking.  Some might say too many trips to paradise but I say there's never too many.  I guess we all qualify for being WW&F fans...some more rabid than others.

Good.  That 10 cents should go a long way.

That's strange -- Nancy always gives Dave and me a different room each time we visit.  Something about not afflicting the same guests each year.
