Believe me, Mike stated about his horn, I have heard it and no one want's to hear it. As far as the discisson goes. the 52 is loud enough for neigbors. Anything, louder will create more problems. A 52 certified operator.

Well people would have a hard time saying they didn't see the locomotive coming!

I like the buildouts on the side of the cab. Makes it possible to see up the train without leaning out of the cab so far.

Seriously, I think 52 SHOULD get a new more dignified paint scheme!

Contest anyone?

This would be great at Victorian Christmas. I agree with Bob about a new color scheme. Of course, we’ll need someone to apply the paint...

I see they properly put the hand rails on the hood, but they missed the handrails on the cab roof.  I guess without the walk board extending by the expanded cab they weren't needed.

I think Bob has a point - #52's paint job is looking a bit tired.  I would suggest a nice MEC switcher paint scheme.

I do like the expanded cab design.  If we have someone who is good with sheet metal that would be a great project before any new paint job.

Of course there are always rumblings about a four axle switcher, but that doesn't seem to be moving anywhere fast (pun intended).  Therefore, perhaps we should upgrade what we have.

Expanding the cab sides ala latest sg caboose-style makes total sense...safety/better visibility, more room.
Great new paint job, is needed, would be an eyecatcher!
Go for it!

Except that the engineer would need gorilla arms to be able to reach the throttle and brake valve.

This model seems to be a "kit-bash" of a modern Plymouth frame and the body of the 1920's Plymouth Model JLB.

Modify the throttle lever. Move the brake valve assembly.

Move the seat to the right to be beside the throttle.  There would then be room for one's knees and feet beside the switch panel in the new expanded cab.

It would be a long reach to manipulate the brakes. "Brakes? We don't need no stinkin' brakes!"
