Brecon Mountain Railway Locomotives and Replicas
« on: October 22, 2010, 05:22:10 PM »
I've heard that the Brecon Mountain Railway had a 1897 2-6-2, built by Baldwin. Does anyone have a good photo of it? I was wondering if it was anything like our beloved WW&F #6.

Actually, it's an 1897 Baldwin 2-6-0 from Brazil. They are slowly building replicas of Sandy River 10 and Sandy River 23. They operate with a Baldwin 4-6-2 and a couple of smaller tank locos. I think they may also have one of those South African 2-8-2's. There has been some turmoil there over the last couple of years. I was in e-mail contact with the shop guy at BMR, but he's no longer there. Their web site hasn't been updated in some time.

Thats just awesome. I would hope that the SRRL museum over here could build a replica of #17, #21, or maybe #16? Anyone of the smaller engines (not like #23)
