Gee, the robertjohndavis post really does ask,

Well, Jason and Brian have proven success on other wider-then-needed-gauge engines, so why not? 
Brian will need a bigger barn, however. Jason has periodically talked about having some line-side industries such a sawmill. Why not a locomotive repair facility?

It (No. 3001) is a Mohawk (4-8-2), not a Niagara (4-8-4). Unfortunately, all the NYC's Niagaras were scrapped.
