The WW&F won first place in the auto category - fairly ironic for a railroad museum.  Don't know if we get anything other than a blue ribbon for it.

The parade registration form notes that first prize is $50 so the museum should get some cash from the win.

Good catch on the MP1 sound system Gordon.   

Would you believe we played ... Glenn Miller's Chattanooga Choo Choo?  I have it on 78. 

Music with the "float" would be nice but the AA rides a bit rough to play records.  Maybe we'll try something like that next year.

Do any other communities within a reasonable distance hold parades in which the AA truck could participate? How about antique vehicle shows?

Newcastle/Damariscotta have a Memorial Day parade every year, whereas Wiscasset does not.

There was a bit of talk last year about putting the truck in the Bath Heritage Days parade this year, but I'm guessing it didn't happen.

Seems to me that such area events would be a good way to get our name out there, since it appears that many local residents have no clue we even exist. I understand, of course, that taking the AA truck to parades requires resources, time and energy.

I completely agree with Wayne.  When I come for the work weekends I go to Mass at St. Patrick's Church in Newcastle.  I usually get there early and I talked to a few locals about the railroad and they did not know it even existed.

July 23 & 24th there is an antique truck exhibition at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum.
That might be a good venue to get out the word about the WW&F museum.

I'd like to see the AA's doors painted with "Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway" -I hate to say it, but speaking as a marketing person, without spelling out the words, the owner of the truck is a bit of a mystery to anyone looking at it. In actuality it seems very few people know what "WW&F Ry" means.

A nice magnetic sign would serve the purpose very well without ruining the paint job on the truck.
