James Patten replied:We have very few Christmas decorations, compared to our Halloween decorations. I think we do run until 6 PM or so, but it's mainly a ride in the dark. Our Victorian Christmas celebration trains are mostly during the day, because we have a horse-drawn wagon/sleigh (depending on snow cover) at Alna Center, which is a great attraction.
Edaville used to have a vast Christmas decoration collection; that collection is now in the hands of Maine Narrow Gauge.
Jon Dandridge replied:I remember that Edaville display was quite impressive - my wife, sister, and I went down to see it in the early 1980's. They were using an engine as a stationary boiler to run a generator for the lights - I believe that was our #9 ?
I imagine though it would be a lot of work to try to set up and run something like that, plus the expense of acquring the lights and fixtures.

James Patten replied:The Edaville stationary engine would have been their #5, our #10.
Speaking about our Halloween decorations - the majority of these were given to us a couple of years back. It's because we received these decorations that we have ramped Halloween up so much.
I think I'm now of the opinion that on Victorian Christmas we should stop running trains at 5. Put everything away and we'll all have a little end-of-the-year dinner together.

Dave Olszewski replied:I did not know they serve little end of the year dinner together. It will be great to have friend together for dinner after put everything away. It will be fun. I can't wait to see Xmas trip there. What hour will they run Xmas train there? 10AM until 5PM?

James Patten replied:I think last year there was some kind of pot luck at the end of the day, but I didn't stick around for it, so I can't really say what happened. But the more I think of it, the better I like it. We as a volunteer group are usually working pretty hard when we get together. Let's kick back a little and relax without worrying about building railroad or selling tickets, with a little yuletide cheer (no violations of Rule #6 please).
Joe Fox replied:Sounds good to me James. I to am tired at the end of a hard work day, and I think that it would be great to have all of the crew get together and eat dinner.
