Volunteers / camping for the fall work weekend
« on: October 03, 2019, 08:22:45 PM »
I was wondering if there is anywhere in the area that I could park my van to sleep in it? I would want a place with 24 hour restrooms . Also can we shower at the house? I don't mind paying as I would pay at a truck stop anyway.

Museum Discussion / wheel chair accessibility
« on: July 30, 2019, 05:03:01 PM »
I'm not suggesting this is something we need to do but there has been discussion about this before and this certainly is an idea. With larger wheels something like this might work on rougher ground and could be kept in a small shed when not needed near the track. https://www.wllr.org.uk/news?fbclid=IwAR1cnkYjc5nEgtx1wF-ASw_ugP-i41uh74id6hVn8ZPXK9ENCMefnKL6S5w

I ran across this video, I don't know if it was posted before. Maybe in a few years we'll have one.

Are there any plans to have a booth at the convention ? Since I live in Minnesota I would volunteer to help man a booth if needed.

Museum Discussion / steel for arch bar trucks
« on: January 25, 2018, 08:36:44 PM »
Is the museum interested in some new 1/2 x3 steel to use in trucks? I know we are a few years away from using it, but I got a real good buy on this and could donate some if it was wanted.

Museum Discussion / plowing snow
« on: January 04, 2018, 10:57:23 PM »
This is a link to a dearborn snow plow that was made to fit a ford 8n tractor. I have seen what i was told was one and they would make a excellent second  plow so the crew would not have to switch the plow to the other end of the locomotive. http://n-news.com/marketplace/  scroll down, red v plow.

Museum Discussion / Wheel chocks

These are on eBay, they are in New York, I don't know if you need any, or if the price is fair, but if a member lived near where they are , and could pick them up to save the shipping it might be a worthwhile purchase.

General Discussion / 32 pound rail
« on: July 13, 2014, 08:19:02 PM »
I was wondering about the joint bars found on the R O W for 32 pound rail. It seems like an odd size, was it the same height as 30 pound rail with a thicker web, or a larger head. I find no mention or it in any listing of standard rails. I know a lot of different sizes and profiles were made over the years and was wondering about the old WW&F rail.

Here's a link to an article on speeder cars. One page has a picture of a early 40's rail fan event on the B & S R.

Interesting, $35000 + a boiler + a cab + whatever other repairs are needed.

General Discussion / Model T rail car
« on: February 21, 2010, 04:53:22 PM »
I received an email with a link to this picture of a standard gauge Model T based rail car, and I thought some of you might enjoy it. Talk about nails and bailing wire! It would make quite a model.
